Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 3 medium apples peeled and sliced
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 package pie crust
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
  2. Mix apples blackberries sugar cornstarch lemon juice cinnamon nutmeg and vanilla
  3. Place pie crust in baking dish and press gently
  4. Add fruit filling evenly into crust
  5. Cover with top crust and seal edges
  6. Brush egg and milk mixture over crust
  7. Cut small vents on top
  8. Bake for 45–50 minutes until golden and bubbly
  9. Cool for at least 30 minutes before serving

Notes

Use tart apples for better flavor balance
Do not skip cornstarch to avoid a runny filling
Let the pie cool fully for clean slices
Add extra sugar if berries are too tart
Serve warm with ice cream for best taste
