Ingredients
  

  • 2 –3 ripe bananas
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup dark rum
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving

Method
 

  1. Melt butter in a pan over medium heat
  2. Add brown sugar and cinnamon and stir until smooth
  3. Slice bananas and add them to the pan
  4. Cook bananas for 2 minutes until slightly soft
  5. Pour in the rum carefully
  6. Ignite the rum or let it simmer until the alcohol cooks off
  7. Add vanilla extract and stir gently
  8. Serve immediately over vanilla ice cream

Notes

Use ripe but firm bananas for the best texture
Do not overcook bananas, or they will become mushy
Be careful while flambéing and keep a safe distance
Serve immediately for the best flavor and presentation
