Ingredients
  

  • 6 chicken thighs bone-in or boneless
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl mix BBQ sauce, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, honey, and chili flakes.
  3. Add chicken thighs to the bowl and coat them evenly with the marinade.
  4. Let the chicken marinate for at least 10–30 minutes if possible.
  5. Place chicken on a lined baking tray or grill grate.
  6. Cook for 35–40 minutes in the oven or about 6–7 minutes per side on the grill.
  7. Brush extra BBQ sauce on the chicken during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  8. Remove from heat and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken for up to 2 hours.
Use skin-on chicken thighs if you want crispier results.
Avoid overcrowding the pan so the chicken cooks evenly.
Check internal temperature; chicken should reach 165°F (75°C).
