Ingredients
  

  • 500 g minced beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 2 –3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 carrot finely diced
  • 1 celery stick chopped
  • 400 g canned tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes optional
  • 1/2 cup water or beef stock
  • 200 g pasta for serving
  • Parmesan cheese for topping

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery and sauté until soft.
  3. Add minced beef and cook until browned completely.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, canned tomatoes, salt, pepper, and herbs.
  5. Pour in water or stock and mix well.
  6. Simmer on low heat for 25–35 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Cook pasta separately until al dente and drain.
  8. Mix sauce with pasta or serve on top.
  9. Finish with Parmesan cheese before serving.

Notes

  • Slow simmer = better flavor, don’t rush it.
  • Sauce tastes even better the next day (hello leftovers!).
  • Add milk or cream for a richer, smoother texture.
  • Adjust spice level with chili flakes as needed.
  • Freeze leftovers for quick future meals.
