- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl mix sliced apples, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, and vanilla extract.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly into a greased 9×9 inch baking dish.
- In another bowl combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Add cold butter cubes and mix with your fingers until the mixture becomes crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and apples are tender.
- Remove from oven and drizzle caramel sauce over the warm crumble.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
Use tart apples like Granny Smith for the best flavor balance.
