Ingredients

  • 1 ripe pineapple peeled, cored, and sliced or chunked
  • 2 –3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 –4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon optional
  • Pinch of salt
  • Squeeze of fresh lime juice optional

Method

  1. Slice the pineapple evenly into rings or chunks.
  2. Melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add brown sugar and stir until melted and bubbly.
  4. Place pineapple in a single layer in the skillet.
  5. Cook each side 2–3 minutes until golden brown and caramelized.
  6. Sprinkle cinnamon and drizzle lime juice over pineapple.
  7. Serve immediately alone or with ice cream, pancakes, or grilled meats.

Notes

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure proper caramelization.
  • Medium heat is key to preventing sugar from burning.
  • Fresh pineapple tastes best, but canned can work in a pinch.
  • Optional: add a splash of rum or a pinch of chili for extra flavor.
