Method
- In a large pot, melt butter and add vegetables, cooking for 3–4 minutes.
- Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
- Add shredded chicken, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt, then add a little milk to form dumpling dough.
- Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough into the simmering soup.
- Cover and cook for 15–20 minutes until dumplings are cooked through.
- Stir gently and let thicken slightly before serving.
Notes
- Do not lift the lid while the dumplings cook to ensure they stay fluffy.
- Add herbs like thyme or parsley for extra flavor.
- Adjust thickness by adding more broth or simmering longer.
