Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf French or Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella or parmesan optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
  2. Mix butter, garlic, parsley, olive oil, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil in a bowl
  3. Slice bread in half lengthwise
  4. Spread garlic herb butter evenly over the bread
  5. Sprinkle cheese on top if using
  6. Place bread on a baking tray and bake for 10–15 minutes
  7. Broil for 1–2 minutes for extra crispiness (optional)
  8. Slice and serve warm

Notes

Use fresh garlic for a stronger flavor
Do not skip preheating the oven
Watch closely while broiling to avoid burning
Add chili flakes for a spicy kick
Store leftovers in foil and reheat in the oven for the best texture
