Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
- Scoop dough onto baking sheet, leaving space between cookies.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden.
- Cool on baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- Use room-temperature butter for best texture.
- Slightly underbaked centers are perfect for chewiness.
- Dough can be chilled for 30 minutes for richer flavor.
- Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them soft.
