Healthy Raisin Scones Recipe

Fluffy, lightly sweet, and studded with juicy raisins, these healthy scones are perfect for breakfast or a snack. Made with wholesome ingredients, they’re easy to whip up and guilt-free. Soft on the inside, slightly crisp on the outside, and totally irresistible.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup cold unsalted butter cubed
  • 2/3 cup raisins
  • 3/4 cup milk any kind
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg for brushing, optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in raisins evenly.
  5. Mix milk and vanilla, then pour into dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  6. Turn dough onto floured surface, pat into a 1-inch thick circle.
  7. Cut into 8 wedges and place on a lined baking sheet.
  8. Brush with egg for a golden top (optional).
  9. Bake 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Keep butter cold for flaky scones.
  • Don’t overmix the dough to avoid tough scones.
  • Can substitute raisins with dried cranberries or chopped dates.
  • Plant-based milk works fine.
  • Freeze extra scones and reheat for later.
