Ingredients

For Panna Cotta Base:
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp gelatin powder
  • 3 tbsp cold water
For Orange Layer:
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp gelatin powder
  • 2 tbsp cold water
Optional:
  • Orange zest
  • Fresh mint leaves

Method

  1. Sprinkle gelatin over cold water in two bowls and let it bloom for 5–10 minutes until spongy.
  2. Heat cream, milk, and sugar in a pan until sugar dissolves (do not boil).
  3. Remove from heat, add vanilla, then mix in bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.
  4. Pour into serving glasses and refrigerate for 3–4 hours until set.
  5. Heat orange juice, sugar, and lemon juice gently, then dissolve bloomed gelatin into it.
  6. Cool slightly and pour over set panna cotta layers carefully.
  7. Refrigerate again for 2–3 hours until fully set and firm.

Notes

  • Do not boil cream or the texture may turn grainy.
  • Always fully bloom gelatin for smooth setting.
  • Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor (bottled juice tastes flat).
  • Let each layer cool slightly before pouring to avoid mixing.
  • Chill time is essential — rushing = dessert disaster.
