  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 3 tbsp butter softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 –4 tbsp warm water as needed

Method

  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into equal portions
  6. Shape into balls and place on a baking tray
  7. Cover and let them rise again until puffy

Notes

Make sure milk is warm, not hot, to activate yeast properly
Do not skip the second rise for soft and fluffy rolls
Add a little flour at a time if the dough feels too sticky
You can mix half whole wheat and half all-purpose flour for a lighter texture
Store leftovers in an airtight container or freeze for later
